A woman names Lisianne first met a stray feline in the summer of 2020. There was a stray cat colony near her home in Québec, Canada, so a wandering cat was no surprise. But this cat caught her eye and she soon set out a bowl of food and water for the beautiful black cat one she saw that it seemed hungry. Lisianne named the cat Usagi.
She noticed that the cat was getting bigger with each day and it dawned on her that she might be overfeeding the cat. However, little did she know that Usagi was pregnant. Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a local rescue group, explained in a Facebook post: ‘This lady with a big heart for this cause was watching her, she put food and water in order to help her…a routine has settled between this kitty and her good fairy.
“With this routine, the lady gained her confidence and the kitty started getting closer.”
The cat eventually gave birth outside and Lisianne was delighted when Usagi brought her newborn kittens to her porch one by one. Chatons Orphelins continued in their post: “She brought her six babies back and she set up her nest at the lady’s house. Their good fairy decided to help this little family and they secured them home in a room. The mom and her six babies were finally safe.”
Five of the kittens are now in the care of the local rescue group while the last one was adopted by Lisianne’s friend. They were all found to be suffering from conjunctivitis and breathing issues but thankfully they are getting the treatment they need to help fix that.
“The five babies are the same, they were all tufts of black hair. There were three females, Taylor, Tynie and Tyana, along with two males, Tales and Tito,” Chatons Orphelins said.
The Quebec woman thought it would be best to help the Usagi avoid being pregnant again in case she wasn’t around to feed it. She so decided to adopt the cat and treat and spay her to keep her safe.
